Chilean Rose Tarantula
There are over 800 species of tarantula worldwide, found on every continent except
Antarctica. The Chilean Rose Tarantula is probably one of the most common species of
Tarantula and originates from the Northern Atacama Desert region of Chile, which is one
of the driest deserts on earth. Chilean Rose Tarantulas were thought to be a burrowing
species, but current observations indicate that they may hide out or make retreats above
ground and hunt at night. Tarantulas generally live in burrows or trees. No human is ever
known to have died of a tarantula bite!
