Honey Bear
Kinkajous, also known as Honey Bears (a name shared with Sun Bears), are native to Central and South America and unfortunately sometimes hunted for meat and fur.
Kinkajous are extremely agile and fast, utilising their long prehensile tail to balance and hold onto branches, whilst travelling amongst the tree tops.
The Kinkajou, known as the "night walker" in Belize, is a nocturnal animal which lives among the upper canopy of the tropical forest. They feed mainly on fruits and insects. In the dry season of Belize, they often eat flowers for their nectar.
Kinkajous are yet another species that Zoofari are protecting in-situ, within our rainforest reserve in Belize.
